Stepfamilies—what a complicated group of folks that can be. In 30 Days to a Better Step-Family Author and Speaker Diane W. Bailey writes to you about her stepfamily. She will tell you ahead of time that the stories are not always pretty, and her theology is not coming from one who is a scholar in such things but a simple woman who loves her Lord, her husband, and all of the children under her roof.
The thought of talking about stepfamilies as though she was some sort of authority on the subject or thinking that you would read all of this looking for answers of your own has several times paralyzed her with fear. She doesn’t have all the answers—only God does—and sometimes He seems to delight in a game of Hide and Seek, hiding the answers in plain sight for us to seek.
Diane and her husband work each day at building their blended family, which reminds one of trying to keep vinegar and oil mixed. It is all the shaking up that goes on that keeps us together.
This 30-day journey is an edited and revised version of a 30-day blogging project where Diane shared her experiences, and he hope is that if you get nothing else out of it, that at least you won’t feel alone in your journey to build a better step-family.
